DinoMech Triceratops Skull BR0006 | 926-Piece Motorized Building Set

Model BR0006 · DinoMech Series

A triceratops skull rebuilt as a working machine — the great bony frill rendered in brass-tone plates, twin brow horns swept forward in polished silver, and a jaw that drives open and shut on gears you can watch turn.

Key Takeaways

  • The brass-tone frill is what separates it from every silver skull on the shelf — layered plates that square up like a shield head-on.
  • Four effects — moving jaw, red LED eye, roar audio and mist breath — all run together from one button on the base.
  • The transmission runs openly down the neck with brass piping behind the eye socket. Nothing is hidden behind a shell.
  • 926 pieces in ABS, 12 inches tall on its stand, printed manual included, ages 14+.
  • You fit the motor, speaker and LED yourself — the drive unit is part of the build, not a sealed module.

926 pieces, 12 inches tall on its stand. Where a museum cast would hide the structure, this one puts it on display: the transmission runs openly down the neck, brass piping loops behind the eye socket, and a red lens sits deep in the orbit. It's the herbivore that never looked like prey, built as something closer to a mechanism than a fossil.

"The difference between a model that represents movement and one that performs it."

What It Does

Tap any section below to open it.

⚙️ Four effects, one button

All four effects run from a single control on the base. There is no separate switch for the light, the sound or the mist — one press starts them together, one press stops them.

  • Motorized jaw — opens and closes on an exposed gear train
  • Red LED eye — stays lit while the unit runs
  • Roar audio — speaker in the base, timed to the jaw
  • Mist breath — vapor rolls from the mouth as the jaw opens
  • Display stand included

🛡️ Three horns, one crown — the frill

The frill is what makes a triceratops read instantly, and it's where this build spends its detail. Layered brass-tone panels fan out behind the skull in overlapping plates, edged against the silver of the brow horns and nasal horn. Seen from the side it fills the silhouette; seen head-on it squares up like a shield.

🦷 Watch the bite work

Press the button and the lower jaw drives open, holds, and closes again. Because the linkage is deliberately left uncovered, you follow the whole action — the gear meshing at the hinge, the arm swinging through, the chain running down to the base.

💨 Breath in the cold air

Fill the reservoir and a low cloud of vapor rolls out from the mouth as the jaw opens, settling over the base before it clears. Nothing is heated or burned — the unit turns plain water into cool mist, so there are no cartridges to buy and no refills beyond water itself. It's the effect that stops people mid-conversation when they walk past the shelf.

Before You Buy — Three Things to Know

  • Batteries aren't included. You'll need 6 × AAA. Loose batteries can't travel by international air freight, so no set ships with them.
  • Runtime is around 30 minutes of continuous operation per set of batteries. A display piece you switch on, not one you leave running.
  • Purified or distilled water only in the mist reservoir. Tap water leaves scale that clogs the unit. No oils, fragrances or additives.

The Build

🔧 You assemble the drive unit yourself

The motor, speaker and LED come as parts rather than a sealed module — fitting them is part of the build. The printed manual walks through those steps alongside the rest of the skull, so it stays approachable even if this is your first mechanical set.

🧱 Bricks and fit

All 926 pieces are molded in ABS to a tight clutch tolerance. Connections hold without creeping, so the finished skull keeps its pose on a shelf indefinitely, and pieces come apart cleanly if you want to rebuild.

🔗 Compatibility with other brick systems

Standard stud sizing throughout — the bricks interlock with most major brick systems if you want to extend the base or the display.

🧴 Care

Dust the skull with a soft dry cloth. Empty the mist reservoir when you're not running the model, and refill only with purified or distilled water — mineral scale from tap water is the main cause of a mist unit clogging. Keep the motor, speaker and LED away from water when cleaning, and keep the finished piece out of prolonged direct sunlight so the brass tones and silvers hold their color.

Questions

What batteries does it take, and why aren't they included?

6 × AAA. Loose batteries can't be sent by international air freight, so no set ships with them. Standard alkaline AAA from any supermarket will do.

How long does it run on one set of batteries?

Around 30 minutes of continuous operation. Most owners switch it on to show it off rather than run it constantly, so a set lasts a good while.

Can I turn the sound off and keep the mist?

No — all four effects run on the same circuit and start together from one button. If you want it silent, display it with the power off; the skull holds its pose either way.

What water goes in the mist reservoir?

Purified or distilled water only. Tap water leaves mineral scale that builds up and eventually clogs the unit. Never use oils, fragrances or any additive. Nothing is heated — the mist is cool vapor, and water is the only thing you ever need to refill.Open and closed jaw positions of motorized triceratops skull building set

Do I have to build the motor unit myself?

Yes. The motor, speaker and LED parts are fitted during the build rather than arriving as a sealed module. The printed manual covers those steps in the same format as the rest of the model.

Does it work as a static display with the power off?

Yes. The skull holds its pose whether or not the effects are running, so it works as a shelf piece on its own and you switch it on when you want it.

How does it compare with the T-Rex skull in this series?

Similar scale and the same one-button operation. The T-Rex is all silver with a long tooth-lined jaw; the Triceratops is wider through the frill, with brass-tone plating that gives it a warmer, more armored look. They read as a pair on a shelf.

What if pieces are missing from my set?

Circle the missing part on the relevant manual page, take a photo, and email it with your order number to support@brickroyal.com. We'll send the replacement free of charge, with nothing to return.

Is it a good gift?

The build is substantial enough to be a real project, and the finished piece actually does something — which is what makes it land better than a static model for a birthday, anniversary or Christmas.
