Model BR0009 · Sport Game Series
Most brick sets you build and put on a shelf. This one you build and then play.
A full desktop basketball arcade in 2,036 pieces — sliding hoop, spring-loaded launcher, twin scoring dials, court lighting and sound. Twenty inches of purple-and-yellow cabinet that ends up being the thing everyone in the room wants a turn on.
01What makes it a real game
The reason this works as a game and not just a model is that the target moves. Everything else follows from that.
- The hoop slides side to side — you can't just aim, you have to time it. This is what turns the whole thing from a novelty into something you actually get better at.
- Spring launcher — press the yellow button at the front and the ball fires. Pure mechanical, no power involved.
- Two scoring dials — one per player, split by a VS badge on the console. Turn yours when you sink one.
- Court lighting — LED bricks set around the court, switched on individually.
- Sound — bounce and crowd effects fire when you shoot.
- Clear enclosure — keeps the balls in the cabinet instead of under your desk.
The moving hoop needs batteries. Six AAA run the hoop's motor, the court lighting and the sound. Without them you can still shoot and score by hand against a fixed hoop — but the sliding target is the point of the game, so keep a set in the drawer.
02How to play
- Load a ball onto the launch track at the front of the cabinet.
- Watch the hoop. It's sliding left and right the whole time.
- Press the yellow button to fire — the timing is the whole game.
- Sink it, and turn your scoring dial forward one.
- Alternate turns. Highest score at the end takes it.
Two players is what the scoring console is built for, but more people can take turns and track scores between rounds. It also works fine solo — the moving hoop means your own best run is a target worth beating.
03Before you buy
It's bigger than you think
Assembled, the cabinet is 19.8 inches wide and about 8 inches tall — roughly the footprint of a large keyboard laid flat. Measure your desk or shelf before ordering. It's also the heaviest set in our range at 6.7 lb boxed.
Batteries aren't included
You'll need 6 × AAA for the lights and sound. Loose batteries can't travel by international air freight, so no set ships with them — any standard alkaline AAA will do. The shooting mechanism itself needs no power.
You assemble the electronics yourself
The LED bricks, speaker and wiring arrive as individual parts, not a sealed module. Fitting them is part of the build, and the printed manual marks every connection point.
Small parts
The set includes small brick balls and fine mechanical pieces. Rated 14+ and not suitable for young children.
04The build
2,036 pieces of working mechanism
This is a bigger and more mechanical build than a display model, because most of it has to actually function. The slide rail for the hoop, the spring launcher, the ratchet on the scoring dials — all of it is brick-built and all of it has to run smoothly at the end. You test the mechanisms as you go rather than finding out at the last step.
Bricks and fit
All 2,036 pieces are molded in ABS to a tight clutch tolerance. That matters more here than on a static model — a game gets handled, pressed and knocked, so the joints have to stay put through repeated play. Everything still comes apart cleanly if you want to rebuild.
Compatibility
Standard stud sizing throughout — the bricks interlock with most major brick systems if you want to modify the cabinet or extend the court. BrickRoyal is an independent brand and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the LEGO Group.

07Care
Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep liquid away from the LED and speaker sections entirely. Press the launcher rather than slamming it — the spring and the gear train underneath will last far longer for it. Keep the cabinet out of prolonged direct sunlight so the purple and yellow bricks hold their color, and pick the balls up off the floor before someone stands on one.
08Questions
Does it work without batteries?
Partly. The spring launcher and the scoring dials are purely mechanical, so you can shoot and keep score with no power at all. The hoop, however, is motor-driven — without batteries it sits still, which turns a timing game into target practice. You'll want the six AAAs in for the real thing.
How much desk space does it need?
About 20 inches wide by 11 inches deep, standing 8 inches tall. Roughly a full-size keyboard's footprint. It's designed to sit out and be used rather than tucked away.
Can more than two people play?
The console has two dials, so head-to-head is what it's built for. With a bigger group, take turns and reset the dials between rounds.
Why aren't batteries included?
Loose batteries can't be sent by international air freight. Standard alkaline AAA from any supermarket will do.
Do I have to wire the electronics myself?
Yes. The LED bricks, speaker and wiring come as separate parts and are fitted during the build. The printed manual marks each connection point step by step, so no prior experience is needed.
How long does the build take?
At 2,036 pieces it's a substantial project — expect to spread it over more than one sitting. Much of that time goes into the working mechanisms rather than the outer shell.
Is it a good gift?
It's one of the easiest sets to give, because the person opening it gets two things — a build to sit down with, and something everyone in the house will want a turn on afterwards. It lands well for birthdays, Christmas and office desks.
