BR0009 is a 2,036-piece desktop basketball arcade in a purple-and-yellow cabinet – a set you build and then actually play. The hoop slides side to side on a brick-built rail, so you can't just aim, you have to time it. A spring-loaded launcher fires the mini basketballs with no power involved, two scoring dials split by a VS badge keep head-to-head games honest, and LED court lights plus sound effects fire when you shoot. A clear enclosure keeps the balls in the cabinet instead of under your desk. At 50.4 cm (19.8 in) wide, it's roughly the footprint of a full-size keyboard laid flat – a game that sits out on the desk and gets used.
🏀 The Hoop Moves – That's the Whole Point
Everything else follows from a target that won't stand still. It turns a novelty into something you actually get better at, and it's what makes two players want another round.
📦 Standard Set Contents
- 2,036 precision ABS bricks – in numbered bags by build stage
- Purple & yellow cabinet shell with a clear enclosure
- Sliding hoop on a brick-built rail mechanism
- Spring-loaded launcher with a yellow firing button
- Two scoring dials split by a VS badge on the console
- LED light bricks set around the court
- Speaker and wiring for bounce and crowd effects
- Mini basketballs for the launcher
- Full-colour step-by-step instruction manual
- Retail box
Batteries are not included. You'll need 6 × AAA to run the sliding hoop, the court lighting and the sound. The spring launcher and the scoring dials need no power at all.
🎮 How to Play
- 1. Load a ball onto the launch track at the front of the cabinet.
- 2. Watch the hoop – it's sliding left and right the whole time.
- 3. Press the yellow button to fire. The timing is the whole game.
- 4. Sink it, and turn your scoring dial forward one.
- 5. Alternate turns. Highest score at the end takes it.
Two players is what the scoring console is built for, but more people can take turns and track scores between rounds. It also works fine solo – the moving hoop means your own best run is a target worth beating.
🏗️ Design & Mechanical Detail
- Sliding hoop mechanism – a motor-driven rail that keeps the target moving side to side, turning aiming into timing
- Spring launcher – press the yellow button and the ball fires. Pure mechanical, no power involved
- Twin scoring dials – one per player, split by a VS badge on the console, each with a ratchet you turn by hand
- LED court lighting – light bricks set around the court, switched on individually
- Sound effects – bounce and crowd audio fires when you shoot
- Clear enclosure – keeps the mini basketballs inside the cabinet through repeated play
- Purple & yellow cabinet – a bold, high-contrast arcade look that stands out on any desk
Built to be handled: every mechanism is brick-built and tested as you go, so you find out whether the rail and the launcher run smoothly before the shell goes on.
🎯 Who This Build Is For

- Head-to-head play – two dials and a VS badge on the console
- A substantial mechanical build – 2,036 pieces and 8–12 hours, much of it working mechanism rather than outer shell

⚠️ Safety & Care
Safety warning: Contains small parts – choking hazard. Not suitable for children under 14. Keep loose parts, mini basketballs and fine mechanical pieces away from infants and toddlers. All bricks are made from non-toxic ABS material intended for adult-oriented model construction.
Care: Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep liquid away from the LED and speaker sections entirely. Press the launcher rather than slamming it – the spring and the gear train underneath will last far longer for it. Keep the cabinet out of prolonged direct sunlight so the purple and yellow bricks hold their colour, and pick the balls up off the floor before someone stands on one.
Battery note: Fit and replace batteries under adult supervision. Remove batteries if the set will be stored unused for a long period.
❓ Real Questions, Straight Answers (FAQ)
What builders ask before choosing this desktop basketball arcade.
“Does it work without batteries?”
Partly. The spring launcher and the scoring dials are purely mechanical, so you can shoot and keep score with no power at all. The hoop, however, is motor-driven – without batteries it sits still, which turns a timing game into target practice. You'll want the six AAAs in for the real thing.
“How much desk space does it need?”
About 50.4 cm wide by 27.3 cm deep, standing 20.5 cm tall – roughly a full-size keyboard's footprint. It's designed to sit out and be used rather than tucked away.
“Can more than two people play?”
The console has two dials, so head-to-head is what it's built for. With a bigger group, take turns and reset the dials between rounds.
“Why aren't batteries included?”
Loose batteries can't be sent by international air freight, so no set ships with them. Standard alkaline AAA from any supermarket will do.
“Do I have to wire the electronics myself?”
Yes. The LED bricks, speaker and wiring come as separate parts and are fitted during the build. The printed manual marks each connection point step by step, so no prior experience is needed.
“How long does the build take at 2,036 pieces?”
Approximately 8–12 hours. It's a substantial project – expect to spread it over more than one sitting. Much of that time goes into the working mechanisms rather than the outer shell, and you test the rail, launcher and dials as you go.
“Is it a good gift?”
It's one of the easiest sets to give, because the person opening it gets two things – a build to sit down with, and something everyone in the house will want a turn on afterwards. It lands well for birthdays, Christmas and office desks.
“What if a piece is missing or damaged?”
Within 48 hours of delivery, circle the missing part on the relevant page of your instruction manual, photograph it, and email the picture with your order number to admin@brickroyal.com. We'll replace any confirmed missing or damaged parts free of charge – no need to return the set.
