Mechanical Hercules Beetle Building Set
A 939-piece mechanical take on the Hercules beetle — one of the strongest creatures on Earth, crowned with its famous long horn. Articulated legs and horn you can pose by hand, exposed mechanical structure throughout, and an optional motor kit when you want it to move on its own.

What's in the standard set
The build, in short
Overview
The Hercules beetle is the strongman of the insect world — pound for pound one of the strongest animals alive, instantly recognised by the long curved horn on its head. The BR0013 rebuilds it as a mechanical specimen: 939 precision ABS bricks forming a broad armoured shell, six articulated legs and that signature horn, with the mechanical joint structure left on show.
Out of the box it's a static, fully poseable display model — no batteries, no wiring. A separately sold motor kit adds powered movement later if you want it. Built for adult builders, insect fans and STEM learners aged 14+.
Poseable mechanical anatomy
- Signature long horn: the Hercules beetle's famous horn adjusts angle for a charging or resting pose
- Six articulated legs: each leg poses independently, so the beetle can stand, climb an edge or brace for display
- Exposed joint structure: the mechanical linkages stay visible, part armour, part machine
Because everything holds its pose, it works as a desk piece you can re-stage whenever you like.
Optional motor upgrade
Motor Kit (sold separately)
Want it to move on its own? The separately sold Motor Upgrade Kit installs into the body and brings the mechanism to life with powered motion. It runs on AAA batteries (not included). The standard set ships with no motor and no electronics — add the kit only if and when you want the powered version.
Design & make
Mechanical detailing
Layered armour plates build up the beetle's segmented shell, while the underside and joints expose the mechanical skeleton — a "specimen meets machine" look that suits a bookshelf, gaming desk or collection cabinet. At 15.6 inches long, it reads clearly across the room.
Materials & craftsmanship
Bricks are high-toughness injection ABS with a firm, consistent clutch that holds poses and survives repeated rebuilds. Joint parts are precision-moulded so the legs and horn joint move smoothly without going loose. Edges are smooth and burr-free for comfortable handling.

What you'll learn (STEM)
Building it walks through insect body structure — head, thorax, abdomen, six-leg layout — alongside mechanical joint logic and load-bearing assembly. A hands-on mix of entomology and engineering that also trains spatial reasoning and patience.
Safety & care
Contains small bricks — choking hazard. Age 14+. Keep small parts away from children under 3. Don't force the leg or horn joints. Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep out of prolonged direct sun. If you add the motor kit, follow its instructions and remove batteries for long-term storage.
