Key Takeaways

  • A 944-piece cyberpunk mantis with multi-axis gear linkage — twist the exposed gears and the claws, legs, abdomen and wing roots all move together.
  • Custom honeycomb PVC wings in semi-transparent cyber purple — soft, tough, flip up and down on connecting shafts.
  • Standard version is a fully hand-posable static model — no motor, no electronics.
  • Motorized crawling is an optional upgrade — a separately purchased 2.4G remote kit (motor + remote + lithium battery), which you then assemble in yourself.
  • Metallic silver, navy blue and transparent purple in ABS + PVC, on a branded stand with engraved nameplate. Ages 14+, July 2026.

A mantis is nature's own machine — all angles, joints and clamping claws. This build leans into that, laying multiple gear groups openly inside the body so the predatory clamp of the foreclaws and the walking motion of the legs run on mechanisms you can see. Metallic silver frame, navy-blue components, translucent purple honeycomb wings: equal parts insect and cyber machine.

⚙️ Full movable gear structure (standard version)

The whole body runs on a multi-axis linkage gear layout. The foreclaws, six walking legs, abdomen and wing roots are all gear-driven — twist the exposed gears by hand and the limbs move in sync, recreating the mantis's predatory clamp and its walking joint motion. The open layout lets you see exactly how the interlocking gears drive coordinated movement across the body.

🦋 Custom honeycomb PVC wings

The wings use an exclusive custom PVC with honeycomb-grid printing — soft, tough and crack-resistant, in a semi-transparent purple cyber texture. They flip up and down freely on connecting shafts to match the mechanical motion of the rest of the body. These special-shaped PVC parts are tailor-made for this model and aren't found in a standard brick set.

🎨 Cyberpunk detailing

Metallic silver electroplated bricks for the main frame, navy-blue mechanical components, translucent purple decorative parts. Cyber line stickers and pipeline bricks add industrial sci-fi texture. The antennae, serrated claw teeth, segmented leg joints and abdominal gear pipelines are all finely restored — realistic bionic detail meeting futuristic machinery.

⚡ Motorized Crawling = Optional Kit

Important to understand before ordering. The standard product is a pure static model — no motor, no remote, no battery. Out of the box, every joint moves by hand; you pose it and display it.

To make it crawl, there's a separately purchased 2.4G remote dynamic kit, which includes:

  • L-type motor
  • 2.4G multi-button remote controller
  • Rechargeable lithium battery box

Fitted, the mantis crawls, swings its forelegs automatically and moves its limbs by remote. The kit is bought separately and self-assembled — you wire it in following the manual. If you know you'll want the electric function, buy the kit alongside the model so you build it in from the start.

Before You Buy — Three Things to Know

  • The standard model has no electronics. It's a hand-posable static build. Electric crawling needs the separate 2.4G kit (motor + remote + battery), self-assembled.
  • No batteries in any version. The standard set has no battery; the optional kit's lithium battery is part of that separate purchase.
  • Small parts & PVC wings. Rated 14+, keep away from children under 3. Don't pull the gears or claws hard, and keep the PVC wings away from prolonged heat to avoid warping.

The Build

🔧 944 pieces of linkage

Much of the build is working mechanism rather than shell, which makes it a more involved session than the piece count suggests. You assemble the gear groups as you go, so by the time the mantis is finished you understand how the claws clamp and the legs walk — because you built the motion in. If you add the dynamic kit later, the wiring is a follow-up step done per the manual.

🎓 What you'll learn (STEM value)

The build covers gear transmission, multi-axis linkage, crank connecting-rod motion and bionic limb design — insect body structure and mechanical drive logic learned at the same time. It exercises spatial imagination, structural reasoning and hands-on patience, a solid STEM piece for teens and adults.

🧱 Bricks, fit & stand

High-toughness ABS with tight friction fit, stable through repeated disassembly. The wings use customized flexible PVC that resists cracking and bending. Gears are precision mold-injected for smooth meshing without jamming. All special parts are custom molds exclusive to this insect series. Comes with a dedicated black display bracket and engraved nameplate that holds the mantis stably for display and photos from any angle.

🔗 Compatibility with other brick systems

Standard stud sizing throughout — the bricks interlock with most major brick systems if you want to modify the stand or the display.

🧴 Care & safety

Contains small bricks — choking risk, keep away from children under 3. Don't pull the gears or claws violently. The PVC wings are flexible — don't expose them to prolonged heat (they can warp) or scratch the honeycomb surface. If you fit the dynamic kit, wire it strictly per the manual to avoid short circuits, and remove the battery for long-term storage.

Questions

Does the standard mantis move on its own?

No. The standard version is a static, hand-posable model — every joint moves, but you move it. Automatic electric crawling needs the separate 2.4G dynamic kit.

Does it come with a motor?

No. The standard product has no motor, remote or battery. The motor comes only in the optional 2.4G dynamic kit, which is purchased separately and assembled in yourself.

What's in the dynamic upgrade kit?

An L-type motor, a 2.4G multi-button remote controller and a rechargeable lithium battery box. Once fitted, the mantis crawls, swings its forelegs automatically and moves by remote. You assemble and wire it in following the manual.

Can I add the kit later?

Yes, though it's easier to build it in from the start than to reopen the body afterwards. If you already know you want the remote crawling, buy the kit with the model.

Are the wings fragile?

No — the custom PVC is soft and tough, made to resist cracking and bending. Just keep them out of prolonged heat so they don't warp, and avoid scratching the honeycomb surface.

Is it hard to build?

It's more mechanical than the 944-piece count suggests, since much of it is working linkage. The printed manual takes it step by step and you test the joints as you go, so no prior experience is needed. Rated 14+.

Is it a good gift?

It's a strong pick for insect fans, cyberpunk lovers and anyone who likes seeing how things move — the posable claws and gear structure make it a display piece as much as a build, with a clear upgrade path if they later want remote crawling. Popular for birthdays, holidays and graduations.
